One of the most important tools we use is MeiboVue®, a high-resolution meibography system designed to evaluate the health of your meibomian glands.

What Are Meibomian Glands?

These tiny oil-producing glands line your upper and lower eyelids. Their job is to release the protective oils that keep your tears from evaporating too quickly.
When these glands become blocked, inflamed, or damaged, it can lead to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)—the most common cause of dry eye disease.

What MeiboVue® Does

MeiboVue® captures detailed infrared images of your eyelids, allowing our doctors to:

  • Visualize the structure of your meibomian glands
    (including gland clarity, shape, and any dropout or atrophy)

  • Assess gland function and oil production

  • Identify early signs of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
    —often before symptoms become severe

  • Determine the best treatment plan
    such as heat-based therapies, gland expression, or other dry-eye management options
